The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday sought a report from the directors of Sanjay Tiger Reserve and Son Ghariyal Sanctuary after a PIL alleged that power plants in and around them were causing pollution.
The public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Subash Singh, an activist, claimed that power generation plants in and around these reserves were causing air and water pollution, threatening wildlife and ecology.
"The high court sought a report from the directors of Sanjay Tiger Reserve and Son Ghariyal Sanctuary in two weeks," the petitioner's lawyer, Anoop Singh, said.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice R S Jha and Justice V K Shukla said it wanted to ascertain "the true and correct factual situation", so the directors of the two reserves should undertake a survey under the supervision of additional chief conservator of forest.
