A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar issued notice to the Delhi Police and the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and asked them to file their replies to the plea by an NGO which has sought sealing and demolition of the illegal constructions.
NGO Nyaya Manch has alleged that the residents of the posh south Delhi colony were raising illegal construction in the guise of undertaking repairs and with the collusion of the local police and municipal officials.
The NGO has also urged the court to order the prosecution of the owners or occupiers or builders of the unauthorised or illegal constructions.
The plea lists out 27 properties which have allegedly raised illegal constructions and seeks an inspection of the entire Sainik Farms area in a time bound manner by the police and SDMC to identify the illegal and unauthorised properties and take action in accordance with law.
The court listed the matter for further hearing on March 19.
