Chief Justice S K Kaul and Justice S Manikumar, disposing a petition filed by one K K Ramesh, said the state government had submitted it was awaiting the amendments and said if government does not implement the act even after the amendments are made, the petitioner could approach court.
The petitioner alleged that state government officials were not acting on implementing the act in order to protect corrupt politicians and top level officials. They were giving breathing time to them to set right the malpractices, he said.
The petitioner submitted that many projects which had been declared remained on paper and people remained poor due to corruption. This could be curbed only by forming the Lokayukta, he said.
