Acting on a tip-off, Giridih Deputy Commissioner D P Lakra went to the spot and arrested red handed an employee of the dealer who was taking the oil from a tanker into six drums with the help of a small pump, Lakra said.
The deputy commissioner then make the arrested man call the dealer informing him about the raid, and the dealer promptly sent two of his employees with a Rs five lakh in cash to settle the issue.
The two employees were also arrested and the money, the car in which two employees had come, and pilfered kerosene were seized, Lakra said.
One more staff, who was supervising the process, was also arrested.
The tanker carrying 10 KL kerosene from Dhanbad should have reached the block office concerned before it was alloted to the dealer, he said.
In another raid, the Deputy Commissioner seized foreign liquors estimated to be worth around Rs nine lakh from the house a barber.
Official sources said acting on a tip-off, Lakra conducted raid in the house of the barber, Ramdev Thakur, who has a saloon in the Giridih township, and seized the cartoons of foreign liquor from Jarwadih village under Jamua police station today.
