"Following the appeal of PM Modi during Independence Day address, I have today adopted Old Pilanji village to develop it as a model village," Lekhi told reporters here.
The 46-year-old MP said she was also considering to adopt five more villages of her constituency.
In Pillanji, she vowed to work on the sanitation, drainage and roads in order to develop it fully as a model village.
"The main problem of Delhi's villages is that they are out of the ambit of municipal law. Houses, roads have been constructed in irregularised manner following which the pace of development work was not fast," she said.

"We will also run an awareness programme about cleaning of nearby areas, and for this work, we will rope in women. During campaign, we will tell women not to dump used food in drains and outside their house," she said.
