In advent of the court ruling and its compliance, Piramal Enterprises Ltd (PEL) has decided to rename the brand name of its ovulation test kits as "i-know".
PEL has already stopped billing of the old brand name and the transition will be completed by August 25, across the entire spectrum of sales, marketing and operations, the company said in a statement.
Piramal had last week agreed in Delhi High Court to stop using the word 'sure' as a brand name for its ovulation kit product or for any other drug manufactured by it.
The pharma company gave the undertaking, on affidavit, to a bench of Justice Indermeet Kaur who was hearing a trademark infringement case filed against Piramal by Assure Life Science Pvt Ltd.
We will take all necessary steps to minimise the impact on all our stakeholders and consumers and are confident of cooperation from our distributors and channel partners.
"As an organisation we have always fully complied with all the regulatory requirements, and our endeavour is to do the same in the current situation, it said.
I-know is an extension of the 'i' range which includes i-can and i-pill under Piramal's extensive portfolio.
Currently, the brand contributes to less than 1 per cent of consumer products sales and will have negligible impact on the financials of Piramal Enterprises.
