Pistachio moves up on rising demand

In restricted activity, pistachio prices edged up by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today following increased buying by retailers and stockists amid fall in supplies from overseas markets.
Prices of pistachio hairati and peshwari rose Rs 5 each to settle at Rs 1,380-1,450 and Rs 1,500-1,525 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said increased offtake by retailers and stockists amid fall in supplies from overseas markets mainly pushed up pistachio prices at the dry fruit market here.
Following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):
Almond (California) Rs 22,700, Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,200-8,300; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 6,200-6,300; Abjosh Afghani Rs 15,000-25,000.
Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 790-810 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 650-740 per kg.
