During the screening of hand baggage of S R Jeyadurai, the former Lok Sabha member from Tuticorin, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel found a pistol with eight bullets, airport officials said.
He was scheduled to take a private airlines flight to Madurai. Authorities told him that fire arm could not be allowed in the flight as per rules. Also, he did not make a prior declaration about the weapon.
The DMK leader had an argument with authorities and told them that it was a licenced weapon and sought their nod to take it with him in flight.
