Plans to convert 'Travancore House' in Del as cultural centre

Kerala Government today decided to convert 'Travancore House', which was one the residence of the Maharaja of Travancore in Delhi, as a cultural centre.
The plan is to convert the heritage building situated in a nine acre plot into cultural complex with a convention centre and office. Besides, it was also planned to construct an Ayurveda centre at Kapurathala.
The Government also decided to renovate the Kerala House, its official state mission in Delhi, a government press release said.
A total of Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for the three projects.
The officials have been asked to draw up a plan to renovate Kerala House, transform Travancore House as a cultural centre and to construct an Ayurveda centre at Kapurathala, a press release said.
State Chief Secretary, Nalini Netto has been asked to examine legal issues and prepare suggestions with regard to the projects, the release stated.
Netto, Tourism secretary, Dr V Venu and Delhi Resident Commissioner Biswas Mehta participated in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
