"We must plant more and more saplings and take affectionate care to ensure their survival so that the green cover can be expanded further," she said after launching a plantation drive at Jor Bagh area of South Delhi.
"Jor Bagh is a clean colony. We must develop it as the greenest colony in the city," she said.
Delhi Government had launched a drive last month under which 15 lakh saplings are being planted across the city in the next two months with an aim to increase the green cover of the metropolis.
The Chief Minister said the forest department and 20 other government agencies have been directed to plant around 15 lakh saplings in the monsoon season.
"Delhi is treated as the greenest capital in the world. The people of Delhi are keen enough to develop green areas around their localities," Dikshit said.
