A vacation bench of justices N Kirubakaran and V Parthiban sought the stands of MCI and other respondents, issuing them notices for tomorrow, when the matter will again come up for the hearing.
The plea to take into account the marks of both the 'plus 2' and the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test for the admission to the under-graduate medical courses in the state was made to the court by Dr P Ramachandran of Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore district.
The petitioner prayed for a direction to the MCI to modify this in the interest of the students coming from backward states like Tamil Nadu.
