Pleasant morning in Delhi; fog disrupts rail, air traffic

The mercury settled at a pleasant 12.3 degrees Celsius in the national capital today, even as foggy conditions hit operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport here and delayed several Delhi-bound trains.
As many as 38 domestic and international flights were affected, of which 13 were cancelled, while at least 80 Delhi-bound trains were running behind schedule by two to four hours due to reduced visibility.
"The minimum temperature this morning settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity was recorded at 87 per cent at 8.30 AM," a MeT department official said.
The visibility was recorded at 500 metre, the official said, adding that the situation will improve as the day progress.
The maximum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius, according to a MeT forecast.
According to the railways, at least 80 Delhi-bound trains were running behind schedule by two to four hours. Twelve trains were cancelled due to foggy weather conditions in the northern region, said a senior railway official.
Foggy conditions continued to disrupt operations at Delhi airport with several flights were also affected due to poor runway visibility conditions at the airport.
