According to police, the arrested accused, identified as one Pramod Bazaad, was associated with the Neeraj Bawana-Amit Bhura gang.
While Bawana is a dreaded gangster of Delhi, Bhura carries a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for his arrest and police of several northern states are searching for him.
"As the key logistical player, Pramod used to provide vehicles, manpower and his office space to the members of the Bawana gang. He played a key role in hatching the plot to free Bhura from the custody of Uttarakhand police and actively participated in the said escape," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
On February 24, a tip-off was received that Pramod would be coming near Palla Chowk in Alipur area of Delhi to meet an associate. The teams of Uttarakhand and UP police who, too, had received similar input, rushed to Palla Chowk and joined the team of Delhi Police's Special Cell, which had already reached there.
Upon being frisked, a loaded pistol with three live cartridges was recovered from his person and he was arrested, police said.
