Addressing a public meeting organised by the party to focus the various features of the Central budget, Raja said that "it is indeed absolutely wrong and baseless on the part of the parties opposed to BJP and more particularly the communist parties to describe the budget as pro corporate and anti poor".
The budget contains several 'bold measures to ensure speedy road, communication and port connectivity. The increased allocation of funds to the States under the proposals of the Fourteenth Finance Commission from the Central pool showed that the Centre was keen to strengthen the fiscal aspect of the States.
The Land Acquisition Bill was a step in the right direction which would pave the way for development of various infrastructural facilities. The insurance scheme evolved for the poor and the have-nots had also been most welcome and crop loans contemplated in the budget would help farmers tide over the financial crisis.
He also said that the 86 fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Karaikal region of Puducherry who were arrested allegedly by Sri Lanka naval forces would be released even before the Prime Minister landed in Sri Lanka during his current programme to visit the island Republic.
