With the disrupting MPs being suspended from the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today asked Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath to ensure that the House is in order for passage of the Telangana bill and other legislations.
Soon after the pandemonium and subsequent suspension of 16 members of Lok Sabha, Singh held consultations with some senior colleagues including Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily besides Nath, sources said.
He discussed with them today's developments and the future course of action, the sources added.
In the context of future strategy, the Prime Minister asked Nath to ensure that the House was in order for passage of Telangana bill and other pending legislations.
The Telangana bill, which provides for division of Andhra Pradesh, was introduced in the Lok Sabha today amid chaos created by members who are opposed to it.
Six opposition parties, including BJP, have refused to accept that the bill was introduced, saying appropriate procedures were not followed.
Leaders of these parties met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to convey their views.
Parliament will meet on Monday when Vote-on-Account will be taken up in the Lok Sabha.
