PM greets UN

On the United Nations Day today,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the world body and said it was time for its member nations to further the cause of world peace and prosperity.
"I convey my greetings on @UN Day. It is a day to celebrate the achievements of the UN & look at a roadmap for the futur...," Modi tweeted.
"Need of the hour is for all @UN member nations to work together & further the cause of world peace & prosperity in the years to come," he said in another tweet.
October 24 is celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948 to mark the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter.
The UN officially came into being with the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council.
In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by member states as a public holiday.
