Essel Group is the PPP partner for this 50 MLD (million litres a day) STP contract.
"This project is the very first of the two such projects awarded under Namami Gange Programme. The project, which will be constructed in eighteen months and will be operated and maintained for 15 years by Essel Infra," the company said in a statement.
This STP will treat 5 crore litres of sewage of Varanasi city every day, it said adding the project will use world class technology to treat sewage as per stringent international quality standards.

Essel Infra is leading the consortium for the project and will undertake complete designing, development, finance and construction work of the STP, its Effluent Disposal Pipeline and all associated infrastructure.
