PM nominates Adil Zainulbhai as new QCI Chairman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated former McKinsey India chief Adil Zainulbhai as the Chairman of the Quality Council of India (QCI).
The post was earlier held by Arun Maira. After Maira's tenure, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) was holding charge of the post, an official statement today said.
The QCI, set up jointly by the government and industry chambers, promotes quality through National Quality Campaign.
The council plays a pivotal role at the national level in propagating, adoption and adherence to quality standards in all important spheres of activities including education, healthcare, environment protection, governance, social and infrastructure sector.
The Government is committed to propagate a culture of quality and boosting manufacturing, it said adding the emphasis is on products and manufacturing process with zero defect and least impact on the environment.
QCI is governed by a Council of 38 members with equal representations of government, industry and consumers.
