In a message, he has said the Tamil Nadu legislature has been home to "some of our greatest political leaders."
"I salute the memory of Shri C Rajagopalachari, Shri K Kamaraj, Shri M Bhaktavatsalam, Shri C N Annadurai and Shri M G Ramachandran (all former Chief Ministers) and all those who have contributed in making Tamil Nadu a model state in development," the message by the PM to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, which was released today, said.
"On this auspicious occasion, I pay my tributes to the great men and women who have brought distinction and honour to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. I extend my best wishes to the past and present members of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and wish the people of the state sustained peace, prosperity and harmony," he said.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Assembly, boycotted by opposition DMK, was held on November 30, 2012, with President Pranab Mukerji gracing the occasion.
