Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the construction work at Kedarpuri and the Chardham highway project via video conferencing.
Modi reviewed the progress of the Chardham Mahamarga Vikas Pariyojana at Helang, Bhadrakali and Srinagar construction sites and the reconstruction work underway at Kedarpuri through drones and expressed satisfaction at the work done so far, an official release here said.
Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh informed him that a wider road and a broader platform leading to the temple's steps were being appreciated by pilgrims as they could get its unobstructed view right from the bank of the Mandakini river.
The new features augmented the quality of the pilgrims'experience, making it more convenient for them, he said, adding it was also reflected in the increased footfall to the shrine this season.
Three lakh pilgrims have already visited the shrine this season which is to last three-four months more, he said.
Briefing Modi on the progress of Chardham Mahamarga Vikas Pariyojana, Singh said work had begun on 26 out of a total of 37 sanctioned projects and eight more would be taken up by the end of June.
