Terming the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jammu and Kashmir as "historic" Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the trip would accelerate the development scenario to make the state a model in the country.
"The visit will be a historic one which would usher a new age of peace, prosperity and development in every sphere of life," he said.
"The Prime Minister is keen to ensure that the pace of development is accelerated so that it comes up as a model state of the country having all requisite modern amenities," Singh, said while addressing a function in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir for a day on November 7, during which he will address a rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
Since its formation the PDP-BJP coalition government has endeavoured to ensure that people of the state get good governance, free of the menace of corruption besides being accountable at all levels, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
"Officers have been directed to ensure timely completion of various developmental programmes so that people are benefited from these," Singh said.
Various schemes have been launched in rural and far flung areas of the state which would go a long way in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living there, he added.
