"The Prime Minister telephoned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeking Trinamool Congress' support for the UPA's vice-presidential candidate Hamid Ansari," the party's Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh told PTI here.

Banerjee, however, told the Prime minister that she would make her party's stand known within two to three days, Ghosh said.

Ghosh said that being the second largest ally of the UPA, the party has suggested two names for the post of vice-president at the UPA meeting in Delhi.

Banerjee had earlier asked Railway Minister and TMC's all-India general secretary Mukul Roy to represent the party at the meeting after the Prime Minister rang her up last Wednesday, requesting her to attend it.

Banerjee has declined to attend the UPA dinner on July 18 after UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel contacted her yesterday.
