UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi reached Mukherjee's residence soon after he was elected as the 13th President of India.
Prime Minister Singh along with his wife Gursharan Kaur, also reached there to greet the 76-year-old President-elect and remained there for some time and posed for pictures with him.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Union Ministers A K Antony, P Chidambaram, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Kamal Nath, Anand Sharma, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Subodh Kant Sahai, Farooq Abdullah and Ministers of State Jyotiraditya Scindia and V Narayanasamy also reached Mukherjee's residence to greet and congratulate him.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati also visited his residence and congratulated Mukherjee. "I congratulate Pranab Mukherjee and I am sure he will do his best to strengthen the Constitution," Mayawati told reporters.
Meira Kumar, "I extend my heartiest felicitations to Pranab Mukherjee on his emphatic victory in the Presidential Election 2012 and convey my best wishes for his successful tenure as our President."
"We thank all our allies for the victory of Pranab Mukherjee as the President of India. This is an emphatic victory...He will be a great President. We wish him all the success," Chidambaram told reporters after meeting Mukherjee. (MORE)
