Gogoi gave the Prime Minister a detailed account of the situation and of the steps taken by the state to control the escalating violence, official sources told PTI.

The Prime Minister, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from the state, told Gogoi that certain forces were acting in a planned manner to destabilise peace and security in the region.

The PM said the Centre would take all measures to curb such activities and assured the state government all help in restoring peace and normalcy in the affected region.

Unidentified miscreants shot dead a person, identified as Nirisun Basumatary, at Telipara in Kokrajhar district this morning, taking the toll to six since violence erupted after nearly a three-month lull on November 10 in the BTAD areas.

Lower Assam's four BTAD districts and Dhubri were affected by widespread violence between Bodos and illegal migrant minorities which left 90 people dead and more than 4.80 lakh homeless in the July-August conflict.
