Party MPs from the state, Deepender Singh Hooda and Ashok Tanwar, who met the Prime Minister here today, said he gave his consent to inaugurate the Gorakhpur Atomic Power Plant (GAPP) in Fatehabad and GCNEP.
According to a release issued here, Hooda said GCNEP will be a landmark power plant, which will benefit the state.
"It would provide thought leadership and research guidance in the field of nuclear energy systems, nuclear security and radiological safety issues along with applications of radioisotopes and radiation technologies across the globe. GAPP is being set up in 1313-acre land and is slated to generate 2800 MW power," he said.
Hooda also thanked UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister Jairam Ramesh for starting PMGSY. It may be recalled that a delegation of Haryana Congress MPs had earlier met the Prime Minister to demand implementation of the scheme in the state.
