Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of Chief Ministers of all northeastern states on November 30 in Guwahati to review development projects and security situation in the region.
Modi, who will travel to Assam to attend the annual conference of DGPs and IGPs from across the country, will have the separate meeting with the eight Chief Ministers and take stock of the issues concerning the northeast.
Official sources said the Prime Minister is expected to review the ongoing development projects in sectors like roads, rural and border development, health and telecom besides reviewing the ongoing peace dialogue with militant groups like NSCN and ULFA.
This will be Modi's first visit to the northeast as the Prime Minister.
During the two-day conference (November 29-30) of the country's top police brass, issues like rise of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al-Qaeda and their attempts to recruit Indian youth will be discussed threadbare.
This is the first time the conference of DGPs and IGPs is being held outside the national capital, in line with Modi's decision to hold key national events outside Delhi.
