Stating this, BJP's Tamil Nadu Secretary G K Selvakumar said the party wanted the Prime Minister to use the occasion to sound the poll bugle for the coming assembly elections.
The party had sought permission for a public meeting at VOC grounds from the city corporation and Police Commissioner, but a suggestion was made that it be held at CODISSIA grounds near the airport due to security reasons, he said.
Meanwhile, police said the city would be brought under tight security cover during the PM's five hour visit to inaugurate the college, built at a cost of Rs 850 crore.
