"Himachal Pradesh ke Mukhyamantri Virbhadra Singh ko janamdin ki deron subhkamnayen (Lots of wishes to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister on his birthday)," Modi tweeted.
Significantly, BJP and Congress were engaged in a war of words only last week after CBI initiated an inquiry against Singh in an alleged case of disproportionate assets worth Rs 6.1 crore related to his tenure as Union Minister for Steel.
The agency claims that the present probe is an offshoot of its ongoing inquiry into alleged bribe paymment made to Singh by a steel firm.
Noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan had filed a PIL against Singh in which he had alleged that the Congress leader had filed revised IT returns showing income with an increment which was 20 to 30 times higher than the income mentioned earlier for the three years.

After CBI's action, BJP had demanded Singh's immediate resignation to allow the probe to take place independently and demanded a public apology from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi for allowing "scams".
Linking the CBI action against Singh with "Lalitgate", they said it was done because BJP was "desperately trying to divert the attention" of the media and people from the questionable conduct of their leaders.
