The progress of the PMGSY projects was reviewed by Union Joint Secretary and Director General National Rural Roads Development Agency (NRRDA) P K Anand at a meeting held here yesterday.
Anand reviewed the physical and financial position of the works phase-wise and get first hand appraisal of the status of the projects being executed in the northern states, the spokesman said.
In the meeting, he highlighted the importance of rural roads which are vital for accelerating development process in villages.
The meeting was informed that 1,787 projects amounting to Rs 4,731.12 crore were approved from Phase-I to VIII to connect 2,184 habitations under PMGSY in Jammu and Kashmir, of which 775 works having 4,366 kilometers of road length have been completed by expending Rs 2075.74 crore so far.
The meeting was told that Jammu and Kashmir state has 4,124 rural routes of 21,657 kms according to Planning Commission of India survey status.
