PMK asks TN Guv to recommend probe into graft charges

PMK today submitted a memorandum listing 18 allegations of corruption against the ruling AIADMK to Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, urging him to seek a report from Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and recommend inquiry by a former judge if reply was unsatisfactory.
"We request you to exercise power under Article 167(b) of the Constitution and seek a report from the Chief Minister, make the response public and if reply is not satisfactory, recommend constitution of a Commission of Inquiry to look into the allegations," the memorandum by PMK, an NDA partner, said.
PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss, former Union minister Anbumani Ramadoss, party President G K Mani submitted the memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan here.
"If you find the Chief Minister's report unsatisfactory constitute a fact finding committee headed by eminent personality, former Supreme Court, High Court judge to go into the issue," they said.
The allegations listed in the memorandum include corruption in granite mining, sand mining, power projects, construction and building approvals, procurement of pulses and eggs for PDS and noon meal scheme, award of contracts, graft in recruitment of employees in transport and education sectors.
The allegations amounted to offences committed by public servant under the ambit of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act, it said and sought action.
