He attributed the scarcity for Aavin milk in the last few months to steep fall in the procurment of milk by the organisation.
Aavin should increase the procurement price for cow milk to Rs 30 per litre from the existing price Rs 23 and buffalo milk to Rs 40 from Rs 31 at present, he said.
Ramadoss pointed out that private milk firms were offering Rs seven more per litre than by the government and many of the milk producers were selling milk to private companies.
"The reason for this is milk producers opted to sell milk to private companies and not drought as claimed by the government", he said.
"If there is no revision in the procurement price then the procurement quantity would fall down further, affecting the people" Ramadoss said.
The government should realise the "fairness" in the demand made by the societies and increase the procurement price of milk, he said.
