Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices to union government and Medical Council of India among other bodies on a PIL seeking CBI probe into alleged scam in the conduct of state Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and cancellation of exam results.
A division Bench of Justices P K Jaiswal and Shubhada Waghmare also sought response from the technical education department of Madhya Pradesh and the Professional Examinations Board (MPPEB) which conducted the test on July 7.
The PIL was filed by Shajapur-based social worker Yogendra Singh Jadoun seeking CBI probe into the alleged scam involving dummy candidates appearing for the examination held for admission in state medical colleges.
The petitioner's counsel G P Singh told reporters that Jadoun has urged the court to order probe by the Central agency into the scam and cancel results of the examination in view of the wrongdoings.
Police had exposed the scam by arresting members of two gangs that allegedly ran the impersonation racket and lured students to shell out money to clear the test.
Police have so far arrested 20 persons, including the kingpin of the racket Dr Jagdish Singh Sagar, besides three MPPEB officials for their alleged connivance in the scam.
