The first batch of more than 100 tourists, including nine foreigners, was flagged off for the jeep and elephant safari by Assam Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain.
Hussain said the state government was committed to providing improved infrastructural facilities in the sanctuary which was severely affected by devastating floods this year.
The forest guards of the 48 sq km sanctuary would also be provided with latest equipment so that they could protect it in the best possible manner, he said.
The forest minister also launched the eco-friendly solar cycle to enable people to move around the sanctuary.
Kaziranga National Park and Orang National Park opened for tourists yesterday while Manas National Park will open on November four.
