Police Academy reconnaissance case to be heard on September 15

Bilal Shaikh alias Lalbaba and Himayat Beg, were produced in court this morning.

Additional sessions court Judge K T Tantrale heard Bilal's application challenging his Nashik jurisdiction and a stay on a three-day hearing starting from today.

The judge adjourned the case, which will now come for hearing on September 15, special public prosecutor Ajay Misar said.

Bilal was arrested from the Satpur locality in January 2010, for allegedly reconnoitering the Maharashtra Police Academy, besides other important places, after which police had seized a pen drive, 700 grams of RDX, a memory card, four detonators, and 300 gelatin sticks from him.

He was working under terrorist Abu Jundal, who has also been arrested by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and is the third accused in the case, Misar added.

Bilal had also told the ATS that they had planned to attack the police academy on the lines of the attack on the Lahore Police School in 2009.

The ATS told the court that the duo had revealed during interrogation that the recee of the police academy was conducted on the instructions of Jundal.
