A team of special cell officers of the Delhi Police arrested Asif (24) and Shakeel (32) on December 5 from Bhalswa Golf Course in Delhi, where they had allegedly come to deliver a big consignment of fake notes to one of their contacts.
According to the police, the fake Indian currency notes FICN) seized from them were of high quality and appeared to have been printed on a sophisticated printing unit.
According to the police, for the last four months they had information regarding efforts of an international syndicate to revive FICN circulation after demonetisation.
The police said it had received reports of FICN being smuggled into West Bengal and Bihar via the Nepal border.

From the border district of East Champaran in Bihar, the fake bank notes were being handed over to FICN racketeers in various parts of the country, including Delhi, it said.
The duo revealed that they received the fake notes from a person in Nepal and also provided details about the members and the modus operandi of their syndicate, the police said.
The police said efforts were underway to arrest other members of the syndicate.
