Assistant police inspector G B Borade of the Kashimira police station told PTI that the accused, Noor Islam Shaikh (27), was pestering a married lady to have an affair with him and marry him, which she had refused repeatedly.
On September 2, the accused allegedly picked up the kid after telling the kid's sister that he would return after showing the kid to his neighbours, but the abductor did not return.
Late in the night, the kid's mother received a call from the abductor stating that the kid is with him and he would release the kid only if she agreed to his demands.
Later, the kid was restored to the mother by the police.
The accused has been charged under Section 363 and Section 368 of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation is on, the police said.
