Police bust naxal camp in C'garh forest

Police today busted a Maoist transit camp in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district and recovered a cache of explosives and other material.
According to police, the camp was located in forests near Edasmeta-Doditumnar village under Gangaloor police station limits along the border of Dantewada and Bijapur.
"Based on inputs, a District Force (DF) team from Dantewada district had launched a search operation in the forests along the border of Dantewada and Bijapur.
"While cordoning off the forests of
Edasmeta-Doditumnar village under Gangaloor police station limits (the region bordering Kirandul police station area of Dantewada),the patrolling team spotteda Maoist camp and started encircling the spot," Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dantewada range) Sundarraj P told PTI.
He said the naxals abandoned the camp after sensing the presence of security forces and fled to dense forest leaving behind their belongings.
The DIG said the DF team found five powerful country-madehand grenades, an SLR magazine, a mixer grinder, a generator, a lathe machine, and a radio set at the camp. They also found some naxal literature, medicines and commodities of daily use.
A search operation is underway in the region, he added.
