Police busts gang of robbers, 5 held

With the arrest of five persons, Delhi police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers and solved as many as 20 cases of theft and robbery in the city.
All five members of the gang belong to West Bengal and have admitted their involvement in several cases of dacoity, including the recent case of robbery at a house in north-west Delhi's Mukherjeee Nagar area.
"The police received a tip-off that the gang would come to commit a robbery in east Delhi's Geeta colony area yesterday and laid a trap accordingly," said DCP (east) B S Gurjar.
While five gang members -- identified as Saddam, Lambu, Burhan, Suhail and Miraz -- were arrested, one Ainul Haque managed to escape and is still absconding, police said.

Police have recovered cash, jewellery, one country made pistol, a knife, screwdriver and a cutter from their possession, police added.
