Police busts gang of robbers, arrest six persons

Police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of six persons and recovery of stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees from North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
On March 24, police arrested Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Wason village of Tangmarg area in the district after receiving information that the accused was doing business of stolen shawls, a police spokesman said here.
He said an investigation team after registration of a case started investigation into the case.
During questioning, Bhat divulged the information that led to the arrest of Mehrajudin Rather, Muzaffar Ahmad Khan, both residents of Wason, Mansoor Wani alias Jana and Mashooq Ahmad Rather, both residents of Hardoora and Rayees Ahmad Khan of Srinagar, the spokesman said.
He said the investigating team recovered 540 shawls worth Rs 5,80,000 besides, six generators valuing Rs five lakh on the instance of the arrested robbers.
These robbers had stolen these valuable items during the past several months at different places, the spokesman said, adding further investigation in the case is going on.
