Police busts inter-state gang in Amritsar
Press Trust of India Amritsar Punjab police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang allegedly involved in vehicles theft and recovered as many as 29 stolen premium vehicles from them.
Seven persons including a head constable and a clerk posted at DTO office were arrested in this regard.
All the accused used to steal luxury cars from other states and then brought them in Punjab to sell, Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh said.
After stealing the vehicles, the accused used to prepare fake documents with the help of an employee of District Transport office and then sell it in the open market, he said.
Those arrested have been identified as Tajinder Singh, Surjit Singh, Shiv Pandit Shukla, Simarjit Singh, Vipan Kumar, Police Head Constable Rashpal Singh and DTO office clerk Amritpal Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
