Police are still clueless about miscreants involved in the theft of gold and silver ornaments from a temple at Goshaninuagaon on Wednesday though a squad has been constituted to investigate the incident.
"We have constituted a police squad led by sub- divisional police officer (SDPO), Berhampur for investigation into the incident", said SP, Berhampur, Anirudha Kumar Singh.
Even though a scientific team and sniffer dog squad have been pressed into service, no clue has been established so far, the SP said.
Senior police officers including the SP had visited the temple once again yesterday for investigation and suspected involvement of some temple insiders in the sensational looting case.
"Circumstantial evidence has revealed involvement of some insiders in the incident", said a senior police officer.
Gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 10 lakh were looted by a four member armed dacoit gang from the store room of the famous Jagannath temple at Goshaninuagon here. The security guard of the temple had sustained injury after being attacked by them.

The incident took place while some devotees were participating in a round-the-clock 'akhanda nama sankirtan' in the temple.
The miscreants had decamped with precious ornaments of the deities after breaking open the boxes. Before doing so they got into the store room by threating the security guard and devotees.
The ornaments of the deities were used during 'Rath Yatra' of the deities, said temple manager Panchanana Choudhury.
