The seventh All India Police Commando Competition will be held tomorrow at the Golasni Firing Range here.
Central and state police teams from 24 states will participate in the six-day long event. They will be tested on their potential, capabilities, precision and preparedness to meet exigencies, officials said.
Fast changing national and international scenario, terrorism, naxalism and spurt in cyber crimes as well as social, economical, industrial and technological development has brought inherent challenges to the internal security of the country, ADG O P Galhotra said today.
"In such a scenario, the role of police commandos has been increasingly felt to be more vital and crucial. Keeping this in mind many states have commando squads," the ADG said.
"Hence, the need is to constantly upgrade these constituents of the internal security handlers of the country and this competition was a way to this objective," he said.
The competition will be held in six phases. It will start with Operation Sequence followed by Operational Briefing, Planning Confidence Course, Endurance Run and Obstacle, Small Team Jungle Operation and end with Urban Operation. Each team will have 22 members.
Rajasthan DGP Manoj Bhatt will inaugurate the event and state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria will be the chief guest of the concluding ceremony.
The event will also have a dog show comprising foreign breed Belgian Malinous and a daredevilry show on motorcycles by the police commandos.
