A police constable has been arrested by the Vigilance Branch for allegedly accepting Rs 9000 as bribe from an auto operator in east Delhi.
In a complaint to the Vigilance Branch of Delhi Police, the auto operator had alleged that the accused Yashvir Singh was demanding "Rs 19000 per month to allow him to ply his autos freely and finally settled at Rs 9,000 per month," said DCP (Vigilance) R K Jha.
The accused Yashvir was posted at Mandawali police station.
A raiding team of Vigilance reached the Mother Dairy Plant in Patparganj yesterday where the complainant was instructed to give Rs 9,000 to the accused constable, said the officer.
As Yashvir took the money, the raiding team caught him red-handed, Jha added.
A case under provision of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered against the accused constable.
