The incident was reported at around 2 AM when constable Jasveer, who was deployed at a picket with a team comprising three other officials headed by a sub-inspector, was hit by the car.
The speeding car had first rammed into the picket and the officials deployed there had to jump out of its way. Jasveer's reaction was not fast enough and he ended up being hit by the vehicle.
Jasveer was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre by the police team, said a police official.
It is also suspected that the driver was in an inebriated state, as officials deployed at the picket said he suddenly lost control and sped towards the picket.
A case of rash driving, endangering lives of others on the road and other relevant sections of IPC was registered and the police are now monitoring CCTV grabs obtained from cameras installed near the spot where the police picket was set up, the official said.
He is now reported to be out of danger, said the official.
