Sukhbir Singh (28) was shot at by his colleague constable Umesh Yadav last evening after a heated argument on some issue, said SSP Deepak Kumar Singh.
Sukhbir was immediately rushed to a hospital with bullet injury in his stomach. He died during treatment at 2:30 AM today, he said.
"An argument broke out between the two a short while after Sukhbir reached Loha Mandi police post for duty.Yadav in a gush of anger fired at him with his duty pistol," Singh said, adding he fled the spot with the weapon.
Police teams have been deployed to arrest the accused. Singh's body has been sent for last rites after postmortem, the SSP added.
