"All the owner/managers/operators of printing press must not run the printing press and print any material in violation of the provisions of press and book registration act 1867 and other related Laws and rules, in force presently, within 60 days from the promulgation of this order without violating the right of freedom of expression of the general public," a statement released by police said.
The order shall come into force with effect from October 10, the statement said.
These printing presses are engaged in printing work from any dwelling and are printing all sorts of material under direct contractor agreement.
"As a result all sort of material harmful/useful, inconsistent with law of the land or otherwise, is being printed, advertently /inadvertently, in gross violation of the prevailing law of the land and other instructions issued by government offices time to time and the Election Commission of India," the statement said.
The order has been issued in order to check illegal printing work and to prevent/ stop/check this crime being committed in violation of the law of the land and to ensure prevention of the misuse of the printing press/printing material in the work of the coming Assembly Election 2013, police said.
