Police Inspector suffers head injury

A police inspector fainted after he suffered head injury when a group of persons attacked him and some other policemen who tried to pacify them after a clash over some local issues today.
The incident occurred when two groups of people clashed during a temple festival at Seyyamangalam. There was also dispute between the groups over desilting the temple tank.
Inspector Balamurugan along with others rushed to the spot and tried to pacify them. One of the group members Arunachalam mistook that the Inspector had come there to arrest them and ran on seeing him when he fell and got injured.

But the people mistook that Balamurugan had attacked him and assaulted the police inspector and other policemen with stones.
Balamurugan suffered head injury and fainted. He was taken to a hospial, police said.

Police registered cases against about 50 persons including 16 women under various sections of IPC including attacking the policemen and preventing them from discharging their duty.
