The incident came to light after a copy of the circular was reportedly posted by the woman's uncle on social media on October 23, criticising the action of the mosque's committee.
"We have received a complaint from a lawyer through an e-mail.. It is being explored for any chance of registering a case in the matter,"Superintendent of Police, Malappuram, Debesh Kumar Behara told PTI.
The 'Kondiparamba Mahallu' committee, which came to know about the marriage on October 18, had reportedly asked the Muslims in the area to cut off all contacts with the family for the alleged decision of the 26-year-old woman's father to marry her off toa Christian man.
Unfazed by the circular, the family went ahead with its planand conducted the marriage under the SpecialMarriage Act on October 20.
