Police modernisation plan finalised in Odisha

The State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) on Police Modernization today finalised the action plan worth Rs 29 crore for 2016-17 fiscal, official sources said.
Presiding over the SLEC meeting, chief secretary A P Padhi directed the home department to procure robust and compatible equipment with the existing data base.
Chief Secretary also advised the police to make use of the equipment that have been supplied to ODRAF units so as to keep them in good condition. The Action Plan focused on modernization of anti-terrorist and anti-naxalite operation systems.
Replying to the media after the meeting, Director General of Police K B Singh said that the finalized action plan would be submitted to both the State and Central governments for approval.
"The Action Plan for 2016-17 has been estimated around Rs 29 crore. The Action plan has focused on modernization of arms, modern equipment for police operations, traffic management, upgradation of intelligence gathering system, CCTV surveillance, law and order surveillance, upgradation of communication system, upgradation of facilities for State CID, and upgradation of fingerprint bureau," said I.G. Modernization S K Nath
The fund support will be provided by Central and State Govt on 60:40 ratio against the earlier funding pattern of 75:25 ratio between the Central and the State government.
