Police nab two robbers involved in over 100 cases

A duo, which is allegedly involved in more than a hundred cases of robbery and snatching, including a diamond jewellery heist in central Delhi, was arrested by the police today.
The accused, identified as Wasim (3O) and Dinesh (31), are the members of a robbery gang allegedly headed by one Sadab alias Huzoor Bhai, and were involved in more than a hundred robberies in the city, police said.
Acting on a tip-off that the duo was to assemble at Jagjeet Nagar area of north Delhi for another robbery, the police laid a trap and arrested them today, police said.
"During interrogation it has been revealed that they along with their associates had robbed one businessman of his bag -- containing around Rs 70,000 cash, a gold jewellery article, a diamond set, a packet of diamonds and two mobile phones -- at gunpoint in central Delhi earlier this year," said the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
As many as ten cases of robberies that are filed against the accused are from Desh Bandhu Gupta road, where a jewellery market is located in Karol Bagh area, police said.
Police have recovered 29 robbed mobile phones from their possession, police added.
